Child Abuse & Mandated Reporting

Description

This training covers the Abused and Neglected Child Reporting Act definition of abuse and neglect and explores the different types of abuse and neglect. This training will then have attendees discuss common signs of abuse and/or neglect, which is broken down into 5 different age categories. Finally, this training covers requirements mandated reporters must meet, the protections mandated reporters have, and what happens when a hotline call is made. Attendees will be encouraged to share their experiences of making hotline calls and discussing organizational policies surrounding hotline calls.
it will also introduce attendees to the Adverse Childhood Experiences study that was done in the late 1990’s. Attendees will learn about how two doctors came to the findings of the study, and what they were able to conclude due to the study. This training will explore a deeper understanding of brain development, and what types of stress impact healthy brain development. Attendees will learn how adverse childhood experiences impact lifelong physical and mental health. The conclusion of this training will focus on resilience, and how building resilience can negate the negative impacts of adverse childhood experiences.
