Fall 2013 Changes to EITP Online Trainings

The Early Intervention Training Program is making some changes with their system for delivering online training. The first of many improvements to come is a transition to a new learning management system called Moodle.  In order to assist our online learners with this transition we have provided answers to some frequently asked questions we anticipate receiving which can be found on this page.

Online Training Rules of the Road

The EI Training Program has put together some "Rules of the Road" for online trainings.  We recommend you follow these rules of the road for all online trainings.

I can't see any online trainings on your Training Calendar. Where do I find them?

For a more convenient calendar view we have split our calendar into two separate pages. The Face-to-Face trainings page is the default calendar view. To view our Online training listings, use the search area above the calendar.

Under the category "Type" click "Online" in the drop-down menu. Don't forget to hit the "Search Trainings" button or it will not refresh your search filter. This is how you find the Online System Overview, other EI Training Program curricula, as well as any online training that is currently approved.

I just got my Moodle account confirmation email.  Now where do I go?

Within 2 business days of requesting a Moodle account you will receive a confirmation email informing you that your account has been created with a temporary password.  You will need to login and set a new and unique password for your account and then you will be taken to your Moodle "home" page.  Since this is your first time in Moodle you will not have any courses listed on your "home" page. You will need to go back to the confirmation email you received from the EI Training Program for the event you registered for and click on the URL for the course.  The first time you login to the course you will be required to enter the unique enrollment key that accompanied your confirmation email.  Once you enter the enrollment key you will be allowed to enter the course.  After you enter the enrollment key you will receive one more confirmation email with a reminder to keep the link to the URL for future access to the course you registered for.

I just finished an online training, how do I receive credit?

Once you complete the required training evaluation that accompanies each online training you will be emailed a certificate of completion.  Please note that it may take up to two business days for us to process your certificate and if you don't receive it within that time period you should email us at onlinelearning@illinoiseitraining.org and provide your name, question and the training your question pertains to.

I completed an online training, and my quiz answers were incorrect. I'm not looking for EI credit, so can I have a certificate to prove I completed the online portion?

No. The surveys and/or quizzes are an integral part of the online training events. In order to receive an early intervention certificate, participants must satisfactorily complete the online module along with any survey and/or quizzes associated with the module.

I'm enrolled in the Online Dual Sensory Loss/Online Hearing Loss training and the first slide says it's for Service Coordinators only. Can I still take the training and get credit?

Yes. The Online Dual Sensory Loss training is available to all providers; you simply need to sign yourself up online. This was originally developed for service coordinators but the content is applicable to all early interventionists. Early intervention credit is available to all participants, regardless of discipline, who take this online training event.

Are there any limits to the number of hours I can complete through online trainings?

No. There are currently no limits to the number of hours you can complete online. However, be mindful of the content. Some of the Training Program's trainings are reposted after updates, so check your registrations to ensure that you are not repeating a training, as you will not get credit for retaking a course.

I've completed the Online System Overview Training. I am trying to register for the One Day Follow-Up Session, so why won't your website let me in to register?

In order to register for the System Overview One Day Follow-Up Session, you must have an account on the illinoiseitraining.org website. Please note that this is a different account than the one you used to access the online System Overview Training through Moodle. If you do not have an account  with the EI Training Program, please create one here. If you have forgotten your login or password for the website, please click here, enter your email address and hit "Send Password".

Is it okay to register for the Online System Overview Follow-Up Session before I finish the online training course?

Yes it is; however, we ask that you do so only if you are certain that you will complete the online training component as required before attending the follow up session. Registration often fills for these events rather quickly and our goal is to ensure that those participants who have completed all of the requirements have the opportunity to attend. Please be respectful of other early interventionists.
