Core Pathways to Stability and Self Regulation

Description

Come discover the intricate connection between the development of the core (posture and breath) and self-regulation from a body-up perspective. This course will provide a clear description of the core based on current research, as well as discuss the neurophysiological rationale for evaluating core development and function in individuals with sensory processing and self-regulation challenges. Participants will gain an understanding of how the core provides stability for oculomotor, fine-motor, and bilateral coordination and supports functional occupational performance. Additionally participants will learn the key neurobiological patterns that affect one’s ability to recover from challenges in daily life (sensory modulation, self and affect regulation).

Various play-based assessments that identify core movement challenges and assist in prioritizing treatment strategies will be presented and explored though movement labs. Along with assessment, a variety of hands-on treatment strategies will be demonstrated through interactive labs. Video case presentation will be used to show practical clinical applications.
