SC 324. (AOTA) Strategies for Engaging Families in the Conversation About Autism Screening and Diagnostic Evaluation

Description

The recent AOTA survey indicated a need for therapist to be able to communicate difficult news to families and provide them with resources. This session will review practice strategies and resources such as CDC Learn the Signs Act Early Campaign modules and new AOTA resources such as the Infant Mental Health CE Product and the new FAQ on cultural sensitivity.

Learning Objective One: Demonstrate effective communication techniques to communicate autism-specific screening results to culturally and linguistically diverse families.

Learning Objective Two: Identify appropriate community resources that match family needs, priorities and concerns for their child.
