WS 415. Putting Families First: Partnering With Families of a Child on the Autism Spectrum Across Settings

Description

The Family-Centered Therapy (FCT) Model empowers families in understanding their child with ASD and foster a valued role within family occupations for the child. FCT across contexts will be illustrated via videos and case studies. Participants will develop a FCT Model intervention plan for a client.

Learning Objective One: Participants will understand the benefits of family-centered practice including evaluation and intervention for families of children on the autism spectrum.

Learning Objective Two: Participants will understand how to better understand their child, how to progress the child’s occupations, how family occupations can be created or resumed, and how family relationships can become more robust.

Learning Objective Three: Participants will develop an intervention plan for a client/family using the Family Centered Therapy Model
