What Children See, What Children Do: Childhood Exposure to Trauma (CEV)

Description

In this workshop, particpants will learn the definition of childhood exposure to trauma, the incidence of this experience, and risk factors. The Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACES) Study will be discussed and participants will be informed of the short and long term impact of exposure to violence on very young children's brain development. A way of assessing children for exposure to trauma will be explored. Finally, participants will learn what actions professionals and parents can take to help children exposed to violence.
