Description |
Professionals working with very young children are constantly observing behavior. Learning how to interpret observations from a neuroscience perspective is the focus of this workshop. Participants will be taught to read behavioral and physiological cues in order to gain a deeper understanding of each child’s unique experience of their surrounding world. The workshop will also explore the ways in which neurobehavioral observations can be used to enhance their developmental assessment findings. Participants will learn strategies they can use during intervention sessions to help support a child during activities that may be experienced as stressful.
Participants will be able to:
identify observable neurobehavioral stress indicators
describe the influence of stress on a child’s development
practice observing children from a neurobehavioral perspective
aptly discuss ways in which neurobehavioral observations can be used to enhance assessments
connect neurobehavioral observations to a child’s experience of stressful events during intervention sessions
