Description |
Our case consultation group addressed responding to parents needs and the team process. The service coordinators discussed the different times in which families reach out to address service delivery concerns, questions about the EI process and wanting to change or adjust the IFSP. The discuss allowed a rich opportunity to be able to understand where a request might be coming from and how to determine the next steps.
Service coordinators discussed how often parents "just want to talk" and may not have a particular request or how listening and validating their concerns can help in such a way that the parent doesn't feel like there needs to be a "next step" The service coordinators often feel like they are getting calls to "do something" and listening to the family may be their need at that time.
