Early Childhood Development: Cognitive Development

Description

The workshop is a combination of a half hour video and a half hour of discussion regarding cognitive development in infants and pre-school children. The video describes Piaget’s theories regarding cognitive development including the processes of assimilation and accommodation. The video also discusses preoperational thought, including the concepts of irreversibility, static thought, egocentrism, conservation, abstract thought development, magical thought, animism, and ritualistic behavior. In addition, it discusses language development during these years.
