Attunement as a Means of Facilitating Change: Using the FAN Method of Intervention with Families

Description

This presentation will focus on the use of attunement as a method of change in the parent-professional relationships using the FAN method of communication. The core processes of Empathic Inquiry, Mindful Self-Regulation, Collaborative Exploration, Capacity Building, and Integration will be covered. The presenters will cover strategies to use to read parents' cues and them where they are. The importance of self-awareness and mindful self-regulation when working with families will also be covered along with strategies to improve self-awareness to help participants stay present when interacting with families.
