Embracing Diversity & Fostering Relationships in Home, School, and Community

Description

Every culture has certain ways in which they parent and educate young children. Early Intervention and
Early Childhood professionals have the challenge of working with multiple languages, cultural values, and,
a wide variety of parental beliefs and attitudes. Educator's effectiveness increasingly depends on the
ability to engage parents and navigate cultural differences. In this interactive workshop, you will develop
an increased awareness of cultural differences crucial to successfully engaging parents, addressing issues
of children with special needs, and gain information on opportunities for cross-cultural
communication. These skills will assist staff with becoming increasing culturally aware and build
successful relationships with parents.
