The Stress Response System

Description

Stress is a part of life. Simply put, the ability to deal with stress is controlled by a set of interrelated systems that are exquisitely designed to adaptively respond. When threat is perceived, these systems send signals to the brain that trigger the production of chemicals and stress hormones that are sent throughout the body. In this workshop we will discuss this system as a means for laying a foundational understanding about stress. We’ll discuss the three types of stress and the ways stress impacts the architecture of the brain. The ACEs study will also be introduced.
