Neuro-Science Fair Learning to Trust the Powerful Influence of Play

Description

Come one, come all, and experience firsthand what it may be like for the children (and their families) receiving intervention services as they take on developmentally challenging tasks. This is a workshop like you have never attended before! In the morning participants will actively take part in various “stations” that correspond to the domains of development. With an emphasis on play, participants will experience environmental challenges and the supportive role of play partners. In the afternoon participants will be introduced to the current research on the importance of play as well as the stress response system. Participants will be encouraged to make connections between their “lived/felt experience” from the morning stations and their work with young children. We’ll emphasize the importance of behavioral observations.
