SC 363. (AOTA) Interprofessional Unified Personnel Standards for Early Childhood Intervention

Description

This short course describes the work of the Early Childhood Personnel Center (ECPC). The ECPC is funded by the U.S. Department of Education Office of Special Education to facilitate the adoption of a common set of early childhood personnel standards for professional disciplines providing early childhood intervention. This session will summarize the national activities thus far across the discipline-specific professional organizations, including a walk across all discipline-specific standards and competencies for early intervention providers. A panel from 4 professional organizations (ASHA, AOTA, APTA, and DEC) will discuss interdisciplinary standards of practice, competencies, and principles that guide service for young children with disabilities and their families. Team members will apply the standards to a child and family to illustrate the benefits of interprofessional education across disciplines. Resources and next steps for each organization will be shared.
