The Goldfish Effect: Seeing Outside the Fishbowl of our Own Worldviews

Description

As professionals, we know the youngest of the families we serve, infants, toddlers and preschoolers, are often the ones listening, watching and absorbing the most of what occurs around them. The shaping of their worldview will be influenced by these very early experiences throughout their lifetimes just as our own worldviews were. Like water is the environment fish do not see or feel, humans live and work based on their own worldviews. These fishbowls we live in can confine our perceptions and distort the outside world which may present challenges when dealing with diverse others. This workshop will assist participants in exploring their inner selves and their work. How do our worldviews affect working with people who may not share the same sets of values and experiences?
