Overcoming the "Hidden" Hurdles of Parental Involvement

Description

We cannot work through a problem until we are willing and able to see it. Engaging families in services for their child with development delays, is hard enough. Sometimes, we can barely get in the door...or once we are in, we sense this undeniable tension in the room.
This training will explore seeing some hidden hurdles, such as parental and intergenerational trauma, parental guilt, and distrust of “systems”. Participants will also learn strategies to work with these dynamics to empower parents to be present, physically and mentally, with their child and providers.
