AM Session –Dr. John L. Day, LCSW/LMFT - Childhood Trauma - This workshop will focus on the neuro-biological effects of trauma in children. We will examine trauma and its causes; we will look at the neurological effects of trauma and how they influence the child’s thinking, emotions, and behavior; finally, we will discuss the long term implications and strategies for intervention.
Afternoon Session - Jay Johnson, LICSW and CEO - Values, Boundaries, & Ethics - This seminar will focus on the fundamental and indispensable role of values in effective Social Work practice. We will argue that to be effective professionals we must adopt a values-based practice model. This approach to professional Social Work practice will necessarily engender an ethically-based process of engaging people in an effective professional relationship and result in maximizing the probability of efficiently meeting the needs of the people we serve.
