The focus of this presentation is to provide practical suggestions for evaluating children with suspected CAS and planning and implementing effective and efficient treatment for children with this complex speech sound disorder. A protocol for conducting a thorough motor speech evaluation will be discussed during the early portion of this presentation. The remainder of the presentation will be devoted to specific topics of interest to SLPs working with children with CAS, including using effective multisensory cueing techniques, facilitating prosody, selecting appropriate target utterances for treatment, working with young children with suspected CAS and elementary school children with ongoing communicative challenges, and developing treatment plans that align with the principles of motor learning.
