Assessing the Neurodevelopmental Challenges of the Child Born Prematurely

Description

Assessment of infants born very prematurely is an on-going process during the first year of life for providers working with the child. The neurological impact of prematurity can vary from one child to another and close surveillance is done by both medical specialists and developmental providers.
In this seminar Dr. Nelson will discuss the unique assessment that is done from pre-term infants, especially while they are still hospitalized. The child's neurological outcomes impact the course of their life and close monitoring is often done. Observing them and providing neuro-motor assessments is a specialization that is unique to professionals working with pre-term infants.
