Please note that this workshop has been offered previously to avoid duplicate attendance which would result in duplicate certificates. In this workshop we will discuss child development beginning with a historical context and beliefs about child and infant development. We will discuss the onset of the study of child development throughout the 20th century, bringing us to our current understanding of infant, toddler and young child development and behavior. Included will be discussion of temperment, resiliency, experience, a developing sense of self efficacy, biology and environment. The contributions of various contributing theorists will be discussed for their relevance to our current understanding. The participant will leave with a general understanding of how infants become young children from a social emotional and self efficacy standpoint.
