The Assessment of Language: Birth to Three

Description

The assessment of language in young children is a multidimensional process. Many EI providers are focused on specific tools, which are helpful to measure language and speech development in young children. Real assessment of language development in young children goes beyond "measuring" skills, which is what tools accomplish. In addition to use of tools, being able to assessment the mechanisms of speech and language development, contributing developmental or medical factors, as well as the environment of the child, contribute greatly into the assessment of language development for young children.
This seminar will address the particular features of language assessment that go beyond measurement and the technical tool use. Dr. Nelson will focus on neurodevelopmental, behavioral and and environmental factors that are part of the assessment of language process.
