An overview of special education law with particular application to advocating for necessary accommodations and services at IEP meetings. Parental rights to reevaluations and independent educational evaluations will be highlighted. This presentation will be especially tailored to equip therapists to help families understand the differences between Parts C and B, early intervention and early childhood special education, both in terms of service delivery and legal rights. Therapists will gain facility in explaining to parents who have a child in EI how they can prepare for next steps.
