Description |
The ADOS-2 is a semi-structured, standardized assessment of communication, social interaction, play, and restricted and repetitive behaviors. The various activities elicit behaviors directly related to a diagnosis of ASD. By observing and coding these behaviors, you can obtain information that informs diagnosis, treatment planning, and transition planning (as children age out of EI).
The modules of the ADOS-2 are determined by age and language level of the child. The Toddler Module is appropriate for children ages 12-30 months who do not use phrase speech. Module 1 is appropriate for children over 31 months who do not use phrase speech. Module 2 is appropriate for all aged children with phrase speech. Module 3 is appropriate for all ages of children who have fluent speech. Modules 2 and 3 have scoring information for children as young as age 2. As an EI evaluator who administers the ADOS-2 I routinely utilized the Toddler Module and Modules 1, 2, and 3 with the Early Intervention population.
