Description |
This course focuses on treating the child diagnosed with ataxia, autism, and autism spectrum disorders utilizing NDT handling strategies and techniques. Current research is shared that supports the complex involvement occurring from cerebellar damage affecting motor, affective, communicative and cognitive function in the population of children with autism and ataxia. The research findings are shared on the first day in a lecture with the same title followed by a second day of lab activities for intervention and assessment of progress toward functional goals. The 2nd and 3rd day of this lecture/lab course are offered in two different locations to accommodate the large number of participants over a large geographic area. Each lab location is limited to 60 participants to provide optimal feedback to participants on handling skills from course instructors.
