Many individuals diagnosed with ASD present with skill deficits in areas of communication, social behavior and, often times, display repetitive behaviors. In turn, these deficits may hinder their ability at developing and maintaining effective social relationships with others and to communicate their wants and needs successfully. Therefore, it is important that individuals who have the opportunity to support someone with an ASD diagnosis develop an understanding of what the core deficits associated with ASD are.
