Clinicians will discuss a research article by Brianna T. M. McMillian and Jenny R. Saffran that was published in the Journal of Child Development in 2016. The article, titled “Learning in Complex Environments: The effects of background speech on early word learning” summarizes research examining how background speech can impact a toddler’s ability to learn new words.
- Course participants will learn about recent research that discusses the impact of background speech on early word learning
- Course participants will learn how to evaluate the research article for scientific rigor
- Course participants will learn how to apply the research findings to their own clinical practice
- Course participants will learn how to disseminate the research findings in a parent-friendly way to families of children on their caseload
