Infant Toddler Mental Health 101: The Centrality of Relationships

Description

Infant mental health has been defined as the developing capacity of the child from birth to age 3 to experience, regulate, and express emotions; form close and secure interpersonal relationships; explore the environment, develop and learn. All of these capacities develop in the context of their relationship with their primary caregivers. Infant toddler mental health is a complex topic. In this conference call we will focus on the centrality of relationships as a core foundational capacity that sets the stage for infants and toddlers to experience their world, begin to regulate their bodies and express their emotions. This conference call lays the theoretical base upon which specific strategies and techniques will be discussed during a second conference call in February 2018.
