GROWING ROOTS: FOSTERING DYNAMIC CHANGE AND STRENGTHENING THE FAMILY SYSTEM

Description

Understanding the human movement system and how it
changes over time provides opportunities to compare
and contrast atypical with typical, efficient movement.
In predicting future changes, we can promote a healthy
foundation to support growth and development towards
functional skill acquisition and participation in peer group
activities. The strengths and stressors that exist within the
patient’s family system can affect current functionality
and the patient’s future development. In particular, the
participation of caregivers in treatment can positively
affect outcomes, while caregiver stress can hinder effective
caregiver participation and thereby negatively affect patient outcomes. Discover how a provider can assess
for caregiver stress utilizing a psychosocial assessment
tool. In addition, learn how providers can affect positive
outcomes through the utilization of psychosocial intervention
strategies
