The FAN Approach to Intervention; How intervention methods used in the Fussy Baby clinic can be used for early intervention purposes

Description

This workshop is specifically designed for Service Coordinators to introduce them to the intervention method used by the Fussy Baby Clinic of the Erikson Institute in Chicago. The FAN method of intervention concentrates on supporting families as they look for solutions to the concerns they have about their child. Several essential components of the FAN method will be discussed along with implications for the use of core process by service coordinators in the Early Intervention program. The core processes to be discussed are; empathic inquiry, collaborative exploration, and capacity building. These core processes can be used in just about any setting to provide support and intervention to infants, young children, and their families.
