Medical Diagnostic and Autism – Part 2

Description

This two hour workshop is designed as a follow up to the training titled, “ Medical Diagnostic and Autism, One Family’s Perspective and Lessons to Share” , held on April 25, 2018. Service Coordinators will watch a video tape of Zev’s father being interviewed by his Service Coordinator in order to reflect on his story and consider using the information moving forward with other families. A review of the current DSM criteria for diagnosing Autism Spectrum Disorder will also be discussed to underscore the fact that Autism sometimes does not look the way you think it does and the category is broader to include children that might be overlooked if we do not look beyond stereotypical depictions of this diagnosis. Finally, discussion of current caseloads to brainstorm if there are families who might benefit from information about the Medical Diagnostic Evaluation services in Early Intervention.
