Treatment of the Child with Severe Involvement: An NDT Approach

Description

Therapists working with infants who have Neuromuscular Disorders with severe physical involvement (GMFCS Levels IV and V) including diagnoses of Cerebral Palsy, Genetic Disorders and other Neuromuscular Conditions. Topics covered: assessment and treatment planning for function and participation from an NDT perspective, incorporation the ICF-CY Model, current concepts of postural stability related to function, and home carryover programs including discussion of equipment. Focus on handling strategies for improved control of the head/neck, trunk and pelvis specifically related to use of vision, respiratory/phonatory control, UE function, transitions and assisted mobility. Focus will be on treatment in the natural environment and carryover with caregivers.
