Understanding Seizure Disorders in Young Children

Description

Children with seizure disorders enter early intervention, sometimes with that diagnosis and sometimes without. It is important for us to understand what seizures look like in young children and what effects both the seizures and the seizure medications have on a child's development. Our presenter will give an overview of seizure disorders and a description of common treatments that children may receive, including medications, surgeries, the VNS and the ketogenic diet. Additionally, we will discuss ways to work with families experiencing seizure disorders.
