Introduction to Vision Loss and Introduction to Hearing Loss

Description

Vision Session: Children with vision loss are known to have delayed development in several key areas: gross motor, fine motor and cognition. This presentation will provide EI professionals and caregivers with information on vision diagnoses, syndromes and other medical conditions often associated with vision loss.

Hearing Session: Hearing loss in children comes in many different forms. Types of hearing loss and necessary amplification will be discussed to create a better understanding of how hearing loss impacts other areas of development in infants and toddlers. Syndromes associated with hearing loss will also be explored along with appropriate strategies to use when working with children with hearing loss and additional disabilities. Local and national resources for parents and professionals will also be provided.
