Trauma 101: Understanding the Impact of Childhood Trauma

Description

Children who have experienced complex trauma often have difficulty identifying, expressing, and managing emotions, which can lead to their behavior being unpredictable and explosive. Traumatic experiences in childhood have been linked to increased physical and mental health issues that can last into adulthood. This workshop focuses on trauma and how it effects children who have been exposed to it. We will look at the ACEs, or Adverse Childhood Experiences study and how this relates to working with traumatized children. We will also look at the impact of trauma on brain development in children and the importance of building resilience.
