Occupational Therapists play an important role in fostering infant development. Occupational Therapists facilitate state regulation and midline orientation, as well as provide the necessary sensory input for self-calming and initiation of motor skills. In this workshop, Occupational Therapists will discuss and analyze infant state and postural responses, as well as practice therapeutic techniques addressing state regulation and midline orientation.
Educational Objectives:
Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:
1) Describe the importance of state in infant development.
2) Identify infant state.
3) Describe and analyze infant position in relation to midline orientation.
4) Describes and demonstrates infant handling techniques to facilitate targeted developmental skill: State Regulation & Midline.
5) Develops effective intervention plans for infants and their families, targeting: State Regulation & Midline.
