Using DIR Conceptual Framework with the La Rabida Patient Population

Description

The aim of this workshop is to consider how the conceptual framework of DIR can be applied to both La Rabida's inpatient and outpatient specialized populations, and how young children develop the foundational capacities of childhood from a transdisciplinary perspective. After completing in-person observations aimed at gaining a better understanding of the needs of La Rabida's patient population, including space, materials, and therapeutic interventions, Tyler will tailor content materials for our population and staff needs. He will provide a crash course into the DIR framework including individual differences and the value of relationships with video examples, followed by a transdisciplinary discussion framed around fragility and resilience, from both the patient and therapist perspectives.
Learning Objectives:
• Participants will be able to list 3-5 markers of when a child is ready to move up the developmental ladder.
• Participants will know 3-5 ways to monitor their patients' fragility/resilience as they make each incremental step?
• Clinicians can list 3-5 ways to keep a stable frame of what a child's capacities are when monitoring all the relevant factors (especially their physiological stability).
• Participants will be able to discuss individual differences (processing differences, language and communication, motor capacities, trauma histories, etc...) of their own caseload.
