CFC 8 and 12 Reflective Practice Group April 2024

Description

Reflective consultation is a professional development practice that offers a safe, supportive space for early interventionists to critically explore practice experiences. The insights of reflective work become both internalized within the practitioner and alive in felt competence, therapeutic alliances, and the desire for continued professional growth. Insights arise from encouraged autonomy, capacity building and intentional self-awareness. Learning relationships offer the opportunity to be seen, held, and supported. This parallels the interventionist capacity to provide a holding space for caregivers as they nurture their children. Practitioners will pay particular attention to emotional responses, diverse perspectives, implicit biases, developmental agendas, equity, and family systems to inform their work and better serve families. The monthly sessions will adhere to The Diversity-Informed Tenets for Work with Infants, Children and Families and utilize the FAN to guide engagement. Multi-disciplinary participants will present practice concerns, current cases or vignettes focusing on strengths, challenges, and self-determined next steps. This is a process-driven venue with content determined by participant stories each month. The group consultation will be facilitated by the CFC Social-Emotional Consultant in partnership with other program leadership.
