EI Provider Training on Autism

Description Early identification and intervention increases the likelihood of positive outcomes for children with as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). EI providers are in a unique position to refer "at risk" children for diagnostic assessment and to either implement or make recommendations for treatment. This training covers the characteristics of Autism Spectrum Disorder and provides information on screening, diagnostics, and intervention. It is important that EI providers recognize the screening and diagnostic tools that currently comprise "best practice." In addition, EI providers will learn about the clinical diagnostic process and how a clinical diagnosis differs from an educational diagnosis. This training provides instructions in the intervention needs and learning styles of children with ASD.
