The Relationship Between Service Providers and Caregivers

Description Early interventionists are regular visitors in families' homes at a time when they are most vulnerable. By the nature of their jobs, effective professionals are often viewed by caregivers as trusted, capable, caring, and knowledgeable people. It is not surprising, therefore, that caregivers naturally look to these professionals to assist in dealing with issues that relate only indirectly to their children. While effective intervention requires the development of strong parent-professional relationships, early interventionists are not typically trained psychologists or counselors. Cindy will talk about developing and maintaining these important relationships and will help EI providers understand their role in supporting family members.
