Description

The involvement of parents/caregivers in the promoting of their child’s optimal development is critical to achieving long term positive outcomes for children with differing needs. This workshop focuses on providing those working with children and their families the tools necessary to support parents and caregivers in enhancing their child’s learning and development.
Those attending this workshop will obtain a working knowledge of the following objectives:

1. An understanding of the principles of Early intervention and how family centered practice supports these principles.
2. How to identify opportunities for maximizing parent’s engagement at every step of the IFSP process.
3. How to identify potential barriers that impact engagement and how to address those.
4. Learn interview questions and statements to use with families that will lay the foundation for parent engagement.
