In this workshop we will explore the factors affecting second language acquisition and introduce
classroom strategies that help develop early literacy/biliteracy in young children from linguistically
and culturally diverse backgrounds. Attendees will gain an understanding of the critical role students’
home languages play in children’s development and effective ways to communicate with linguistically
and culturally diverse families.
