It Takes a Village: Exploring Strategies to Build More Effective Links Between Child-Serving Systems

Description

It Takes a Village: Exploring Strategies to Build More Effective Links Between Child-Serving Systems
Many communities have received SAMHSA systems of care grants and much discussion has occurred over a number of years around the need for cross-systems collaboration. This session will ask the question: are we there yet? Have we truly broken down the silos that so often exist between child-serving systems like education, children’s mental health, child welfare, juvenile courts and detention and other systems serving children and families? What has worked and what still needs to be addressed? What are some of the barriers that prevent forward progress and what are the important lessons learned? Come prepared to share your thoughts and experiences so that we can all learn about what needs to be improved and what has worked well for children and youth with mental illness and their families.
