Teaching Tools for Students with Down Syndrome and other Developmental Delays

Description

This workshop will provide an overview of the specific learning needs characteristic of persons with Down syndrome and other developmental delays in the crucial areas of attention, memory, concept development, transfer of learning, and motivation and define their social and academic impact. Specific attention is directed to physical and medical concerns that affect every aspect of the individual's ability to achieve success in all aspect of life. The workshop seeks to provide all educators with the skills to recognize and implement curricular programs that incorporate essential design elements targeting known learning needs. With the goal of providing all attendees practical information and the tools to help individuals with Down syndrome and other developmental delays become successful in inclusive settings in the school and community, this will be one extraordinary day!
