Event: PLAY Project Intensive Workshop
Overview. This workshop includes an overview of the PLAY Project Model as well as learning how to create a profile for a child using the functional developmental levels. Dr. Rick will be presenting some in depth case studies, which highlight challenges based on various FDL’s. It also will include a parent panel. This panel will discuss the impact of PLAY on the family and relevant issues. Attendees will become familiar sensory modalities and how to recognize them. Attendees will also review the 7 Circles of PLAY, as well as PLAY strategies, methods, and techniques for engaging young children with autism. Richard Solomon, MD, Medical Director of the PLAY Project will conduct this workshop.
Learning Objectives:
• Describe the latest scientific research about the PLAY Project.
• Develop an understanding on how developmental milestones are affected by autism.
• Learn how to create a child profile based on sensory preferences as well as functional development.
• Through a series of video case studies, participants will learn to recognize comfort zone and functional developmental levels.
• Summarize the key elements of the PLAY Project model.
• Learn how PLAY Project Intervention can impact families.
• Receive input from Dr. Solomon about relevant topics in autism.
