Description |
This seminar will describe the treatment model used at Women's Treatment Center to work with chemically addicted women and their substance exposed young children in residential treatment and appropriate community support needed to maintain recovery while promoting their child's development. Unique challenges with developing relationships with parents in recovery will be discussed.
This seminar will include how substance exposure in-utero, often effects infant and toddler development in an atypical manner. This seminar will provide information about how to support infants and toddler whose development has been compromised by substance exposure in-utero. Children whose attachment relationship has been effected by a parent-child relationship where substance abuse has occurred, also impacts children’s developmental trajectory. This seminar will include how to support parent-child relationships with parents who are in recovery, so that their children’s atypical development can be addressed.
