Mentoring Families to Champion Their Child

Description

This session will provide ECE staff with skills and resources to empower parents as the earliest (and best) educators and advocates for their children. We will discuss parent's fears and concerns in advocating for their children, and roadblocks to positive communication. Many parents feel that they need to "PUMP" up their style as David meeting Goliath. This often causes further problems and an overall combative atmosphere. We will explore ways to mentor parents in positive and productive communication of their concerns, and other effective communication techniques to achieve desired outcomes, a team spirit, and productive resolution of issues.
