SUCCESSFUL STRATEGIES TO TREAT STUTTERING: FROM PRESCHOOL TO ADULTS

The purpose of this seminar is to provide examples and demonstrations of each aspect of stuttering treatment.

Participants will learn about goals of treatment, when stuttering treatment is most effective, difference between intensive and gradual treatment, difference between indirect and direct treatment, 6 stage indirect model to treat childhood stuttering, the Lidcombe program, response cost treatment and the effects of only reinforcing fluency, direct treatment of stuttering, including stuttering modification and fluency shaping treatment, maintenance, support groups, & electronic devices, intervention techniques to address bullying, and contacting a fluency specialist.
