CFC 8 & 12 Reflective Case Consultation Series 2020

Description

Reserving time for staff to share around the experience of carrying out their work is essential to support coping with the emotional impact of engaging in a caregiving profession. Reflective practice groups offer an opportunity to consider, communicate, and process complex feelings while enhancing skills in a confidential, safe environment. Regularity, collaboration and reflection for building trusted relationships are the cornerstones of reflective work. Reflection enables staff to retrospectively consider reactions and responses, understand varied perspectives, achieve insights and determine next steps. All members serve as mutual partners in supporting one another. Reflective practice is an evidenced-based approach used in varied caregiving settings by diverse disciplines. The case experiences explored are generated by the participants. This ongoing five-session series will incorporate the FAN as a tool to guide the reflective learning process. The following concepts and application will be explored with the indicated credits awarded only:

1) Understanding reflective practice and relationship-based work–1.5 WWF
2) The “professional use of self” construct for effective intervention–0.75 INT, 0.75 WWF
