Foundation for Serving Multilingual Preschoolers with Disabilities

Description

For multilingual preschoolers with disabilities, fostering their bilingualism is important for their overall development; however, it is not always easy to know how to best support them, especially when one doesn’t speak their language. In this session, we will provide an overview of multilingual preschoolers, including the latest research on how multilingual children with communication-based disabilities develop language, how to apply a strength-focused approach to their bilingualism, and what the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) says specific to children who speak a language other than English at home. Join us for this interactive session, filled with interactive activities, resources, and real-life case studies!
