Based on a recent national prevalence study, the prevalence of pediatric feeding disorders (PFD) In the United States is growing rapidly. Many families are faced with feeding and mealtime challenges multiple times per day and are looking for support to help their children. This course will provide key areas to address to support positive mealtime experiences through improving positive oral experiences which will support increased oral intake so that the children we serve are able to achieve their developmental milestones. OTs and SLPs working in the early intervention setting are often faced with supporting a variety of these challenges without having the support and education in place to feel confident and effective in their treatment.
This course will provide attendees a roadmap to addressing feeding challenges within the early intervention setting to support confidence and growth in their skills. Attendees will learn key components to assess and address as well as areas to consider providing further support in feeding skill development and successful positive mealtimes. These tools will be able to be implemented immediately and utilized in practice in the home and community environments.
